When You Feel Spiritually Empty
Isaiah 40:29–31 (NKJV) “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

When You Feel Spiritually Empty: How to Reconnect with God in a Busy Season
Because even when you’re running on empty—God is still waiting to fill you up.
Let’s be honest, friend.
You love Jesus… but lately, you feel spiritually drained. Quiet time is rare. Worship feels flat. Prayers are quick (if they happen at all). You know you need God, but life is moving fast, and your soul feels... dry.
If that’s you, take a deep breath. You’re not a bad Christian. You’re not alone. And—good news—God hasn’t moved.
💧 You’re Not the Only One Who Feels Empty
Spiritual burnout is something many Christian women face, especially in seasons of intense motherhood, caregiving, work, or emotional exhaustion. The key is not to pretend you're okay, but to pause—and refill.
“O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.”
—Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)
David penned this from a wilderness—literally and spiritually. And yet, in the middle of his emptiness, he sought God. That’s our starting point, too.
🙏 1. Start with Simple Prayers (Even Whispered Ones Count)
You don’t have to climb a spiritual mountain. Just whisper, “Lord, I miss You. I need You.”
That one line? It’s enough to invite Him back into your day.
➡️ Quick tip: Set a reminder on your phone with one of these short prayers:
“Fill me with Your peace today.”
“Help me find You in this moment.”
“Thank You for still loving me—even here.”
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” —James 4:8 (NKJV)
🎵 2. Worship on the Go
You don’t need an hour of silence to connect with God—you just need a song.
Worship in the car, during laundry, or while folding tiny socks. God hears it all. And sometimes? Singing is the reset your spirit needs.
➡️ Try creating a “Worship in the Wilderness” playlist. Include songs that remind you of God’s faithfulness—even in dry seasons.
“But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” —Psalm 22:3 (NKJV)
📖 3. Read Just One Verse a Day (and Let It Soak In)
If you’re overwhelmed with long Bible reading plans, start small. One verse. One truth. One breath of fresh grace.
➡️ Choose a weekly verse and write it on a sticky note for your mirror, dashboard, or phone lock screen.
Here are a few to get you started:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” —Matthew 11:28
“He restores my soul.” —Psalm 23:3
“My grace is sufficient for you…” —2 Corinthians 12:9
Even a bite-sized devotional can reignite your heart.
💛 4. Talk to God While You Work
You don’t have to stop life to pray—you can pray through life.
While cooking dinner, say:
“God, thank You for feeding us today.”
While stuck in traffic:
“Lord, help me stay patient. I trust Your timing.”
The more you talk to God in real-time, the more connected you’ll feel—even without a “quiet time corner.”
“Pray without ceasing.” —1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV)
🌿 5. Give Yourself Grace—Then Give God Your Time
God isn’t mad at you for feeling distant. He’s not grading your devotional life.
He’s simply waiting—arms open.
➡️ Take one small step today. Maybe that’s opening your Bible. Maybe it’s putting your phone down. Maybe it’s taking 2 minutes to breathe and say, “Here I am.”
“Come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” —Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
🌸 Final Encouragement for Your Heart
You don’t have to “feel” spiritual to be spiritual. You don’t need a perfect routine to reconnect with God.
All you need is a willing heart—and a few quiet moments of honesty.
God doesn’t demand more effort—He invites deeper relationship. And He promises to meet you even in the driest seasons.
So today, take a deep breath.
Whisper His name.
Let Him be the one to fill you back up.
“He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.” —Psalm 107:9 (NKJV)
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV):
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
